My Essay General Outline---Sophie

The impetus for technology and innovation, esp.development of the new mass media, whether influence on the growth of juvenile or not?


A. INTRODUCTION

B. BODY PARTS

--The arguments for: TV will benefit the adolescents

1.Money: save the costs instead of buying expensive theatre and cinema tickets,
"civilian pleasure"

2.Knowledge&Information: broaden one's horizon, open one's mind; understanding the colourful and different cultures, religious and communities; knowing the worldwide news quickly

3.Entertainment: relax from the day-pressure of school; fun and leisure from the programmes

4.Family Union: promote the members of the whole family who rarely met in the fast tempo life to sit together and watch their favourite moving pictures

5.Specific cases or examples

--The arguments against: adverse effect on growth of youngest

1.physical/lifestyle: addiction of TV -"couch potatoes", obesity; bad eye-sights

2.phycological/spiritural: companionless; depression; self-centered, egoistic...

3.time: life is too short to be waste, esp.the golden-ages of youth

4.false value & peer pressure: "visual images" -incorrect recognition and judgement of the society and the world; lack abilities of cooperation and competition; bad habits -fail in study; imitate the actions of violence and pornography -crime...
